Detailed  Description

The steam locomotive was built in Kingston, Ontario at the Canadian Locomotive Company in 1912. This Company was established in 1854 and closed due to bankruptcy in April 1969. It was a Consolidation Type 1, Model 2-8-0, which meant it had 2 front wheels, 8 driving wheels, four aside, and 0 trailing wheels as it had a tender for water and fuel and support.

The locomotive was built originally for coal and was converted to oil in 1948.It carried 3,000 gallons of oil and 6,000 gallons of water. It could go about 50 miles before a water fill-up was needed and about 125 miles before an oil fill-up was needed. Boiler #1057 and was rated for 180 psi.

It had 57 inch drive wheels and 26 inch engine cylinders. Total weight was 95 tons. Haulage rating was 57/35% which meant it could pull 30 old time rail cars or about 9 modern cars loaded.
