Register an Item you feel may have the potential for Museum display. From the information you provide, we can better evaluate and bring your item to life in the museum and on the website.

Your story on your item is important. An item or a picture without the background history falls short in its relevance to the museum. In addition to it being available on the website, we use QR codes to bring your story to life in the museum. Visitors use their phones to scan the QR code of museum items to display the detailed information you have provided. It saves valuable storyboard space and allows visitors to tour the museum at their own pace. And you are part of the team!

Only one item per form please, unless it is a logical set such as 'table and chairs, or 'salt & pepper shakers' etc.

It is important to do your research on names and historical aspects of your item before you begin. Items without relevant history lose a significant component of their real value. We are volunteers, not research experts, so receiving complete information at the onset is a significant help in the ongoing process of documenting our items.

Have all your documentation ready before you begin this entry process. For security reasons, the website will time out if it sits without activity for more than 15 minutes. Subsequently, you could loose data if you are inactive for over 15 minutes between input. Oh, and don't forget to know where on your computer (or whatever device you are using) the picture is located so that you can provide the path to it at the bottom of this input screen.

On the request form, ignore the Pending Item Number field. That will be determined by our administrators when the item is accepted.

Museum administrator - before assigning an item number, check the Item-By-Item display under the Search Dropdown to determine the next available Item Number.

Physical description of the item. There is more room than the box shows. As you enter data, the lines scroll up to accommodate more input.

Enter simple textual information. At the end of a sentence, simply enter two spaces and continue on with the next sentence, Do not include formatting and special numbering or any other type of organization other than using the enter key at the end of a paragraph.

This is because the system is capable of displaying on a variety of devices, from phones to big screen displays. The organization of the display will happen dynamically as is required by the display device.

Historical information of the item. Same entry rules as the description. Simple unformatted entry with the exception of the 'Enter' key at the end of a paragraph.

Notes:

Please rename your photo file name to include your surname as the first part of the filename. Only one picture is permitted per form. example: jones_01.jpg

Only jpg or png file formats are acceptable.

If more than one picture is applicable to this entry, contact the museum for an email address. One picture can start a dialogue relating to the interest in this item. We're always on the hunt for relevant items however the timing may not always be ideal.

When you click on 'Choose File' it will prompt you for the path (folder and file name) to the photo you wish to include. So be aware of how to get the path before you start, and save yourself some panic looking for it at the end of your entry session. For some folks, a handy grandchild may be an effective form of stress prevention.

Given that your web designer was born in the Museum, it's not unrealistic for you to master this! Your input may be a little ragged, but nothing will blow up. We have a good supply of technical band aids to patch it up if necessary.
